Hand painted Fife 19thC sea pottery. The Stargazing Kelpie.
The Kelpie is a mythological creature in Scotland that haunts the lochs and lakes, sometimes a danger to people sometimes not. Here I've painted a Kelpie gazing at the stars and hoping for something better than to be a figure of fear.
I've used pencil and a mix of acrylic and watercolours with a protective glaze over the painting. Even though actual Kelpies are water creatures in the form of a horse this one doesn't like being submerged in water. So a light dusting is all she will need. This isn't a toy so children would need to be supervised if handling the work.
Size is approximately 9cms long and 5cms wide. The work is on a curve in line with the curvature of the found pottery.
Sent in a box with plenty of wrapping to keep her safe on her way to you.
